‘For most agents, the first half was really, really dire — and for me it was really, really good,’ says Hirst, Spear’s previous Property Adviser of the Year. Perhaps it’s no surprise she saw a ‘huge’ number of ‘very large’ transactions recently.
Hirst has also seen surging interest in rented properties, thanks to the ever-increasing tax burden on the prime market: ‘It’s not a stupid idea,’ she says, adding that instead of buying a £5 million property, ‘the stamp duty on that will rent you a very nice house for two to three years.’
Hirst began her career in property over twenty years ago by relocating bankers from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and UBS to London.
