With an international reputation, the design philosophy of Porphyrios’ firm aims at ‘balancing the requirements of the brief with the necessities of good construction and the expectations of civility and beauty.’
Established in 1985, Porphyrios Associates offers a range of architectural and interior services, from private houses to masterplanning. The firm is internationally renowned for excellence in design, which tends to follow the classical tradition with a contemporary twist. Notable commissions include the recently completed Magdalen College Grove Quadrangle at Oxford University and the masterplan for King’s Cross Central in London.
Porphyrios describes himself as the ‘principal’ of the firm, which is fitting for his academic, as well as architectural credentials; he has a PhD in the history and theory of architecture and is currently visiting professor at Yale.
