Working as one of six directors in the traditional architectural firm Adam Architects, George Saumarez Smith is one of the leading lights of classical architecture today.
His style is one of simple and elegant English classicism, and it permeates throughout his portfolio of new buildings, extensions and repairs to historic properties and design consultancy. To date, the project he is most proud of is the new art gallery for Richard Green in Bond Street, completed four years ago. ‘I like the fact that many people walk past it every day and don’t realised it’s a new building,’ he says. In his residential work, he attracts mainly financial investors and entrepreneurs as his clients.
