Hailed as a ‘revolutionary step in property fundraising’ on its launch in 2013, LendInvest offers lending ‘without the banks’. The fintech player is growing rapidly, and has already grabbed over 10 per cent of its share of the short-term mortgage market. It has reported three straight years of profits, and is the only online lender to have been rates twice by a regulated European credit rating agency.

Funding more than 3,000 properties to date, with over £770 million lent to property entrepreneurs, LendInvest is the first firm to allow retail investors to invest in property loans. It was spun out of bridging lender Montello Capital, led by founders Christian Faes and Ian Thomas. In December 2015 it formally launched into development finance, with a dedicated team led by Steve Larkin, an RBS real-estate veteran.
