Cutt has property in his blood, having grown up with his family property business and having tried a hand in a variety of work experience jobs in the residential and commercial landscapes. And he has always wanted to work for Knight Frank.
The jocular adviser heads the firm’s ‘super prime’ team covering Mayfair, Marylebone, W2, Soho, St James’s, which he launched in 2012 with partner Tim Wright, focusing purely on HNWs in the £10 million market. Both equity partners have a combined experience of over 50 years in the market, and had started the new venture to ‘deal with the changing nature of our business in London’.
It was a niche that had to be filled, he says, as buyers were becoming ‘less postcode and street-specific and became much more property specific’. He says the platform aims to act as a ‘family office’ style ‘one-stop-shop’ offering, which enables clients to reach out to the wider range of property offering available across the brand.
What separates the great from the good in his field is an ability to ‘become friends with clients’: ‘It’s as good a reference to your services.’
‘You’ve got to listen, you’ve got to be a good communicator, and you have to have a healthy dose of humility. You may know the answer, but you still have to defer to them as they’re the client at the end of the day.’
When he gets time away from the ‘super-prime’ watch, Cutt enjoys a ‘cross-section’ of hobbies: F1 racing, skiing, shooting and tennis.
