Described as ‘the art collector’s architect,’ Croft has designed homes for a range of art dealers, collectors and celebrities. Clients include Love Actually screenwriter Richard Curtis, art historian Philip Mould and the Crown Prince of Malaysia.
His firm, Thomas Croft Architects (TCA), is currently designing a new plan for Sotheby’s headquarters in Bond Street. Croft worked for Richard Meier in New York and Rick Mather in London before setting up TCA in 1995. His work often involves tinkering with old buildings, or creating new buildings that blend with their historic setting. Either way, he carefully attends to context and the client’s desires before he puts pencil to paper.
