It may have played host to John Wayne and the Beatles in its 50-year history, but Annabel’s manages to wear its history with a typically light and louche touch. ‘When the lights are dimmed and the gas table lamps are lit, the magic of Annabel’s comes to life,’ says general manager Claudio Vigilante. ‘Every night is different to the previous evening, and I think the atmosphere is still as unforgettable and celebratory as it has always been.’ Glamour and intimacy have always been the key to Annabel’s, though a radical change is afoot imminently when the club leaves its original basement home for a new, larger venue just a few doors down in Berkeley Square. ‘We’re going to have new menus, even more memorable members… and lots more magic,’ says Vigilante.
