Head of development finance at principal lender Fortwell Capital, Arthur Jennings is responsible for the management of the firm’s loan book, including origination, risk, marketing and underwriting. The company combines ‘an agile and entrepreneurial approach with the professionalism and high standards associated with the established institutions’, says Jennings, ‘with dedicated capital from a single shareholder and an experienced in-house team of real estate professionals’. Fortwell is known for its ‘efficient assessment, decision-making and execution and for providing borrowers with certainty of funding, a transparent process and informed support during the lifecycle of their funding’, he says. On the current lending market and the Fortwell offering, Jennings says that with current levels of economic and political uncertainty, ‘borrowers continue to find it increasingly difficult to access traditional forms of finance for higher leverage situations and development orientated projects.’ As an alternative lender with ‘a highly experienced in-house capability’, he stresses Fortwell’s ability to ‘understand individual projects, assess the inherent risks and tailor financing solutions, allowing real estate investors and developers to realise their business plans’. Prior to joining Fortwell in 2016, he spent 12 years in real estate finance and restructuring roles at RBS and QNB Bank gaining significant transactional experience across a variety of real estate asset classes.
