To say Ben Pentreath is an experienced architectural designer would be to undersell him. He has proved his worth not just with his skill in master-planning and urban development, but also with his eye for interiors and unique private homes. Pentreath often produces classical designs – in fact, he’s one of a few left who can work so well in that milieu. His portfolio conveys a mix of new Georgian farmhouses and country manors with the occasional rectory renovation — all beautifully finished. There’s also an element of fun to his work: in the Pig on the Beach Hotel in Studland, he designed an extension to the main house and two ‘pepperpot’ buildings designed in the cottage orné vernacular. The main house was also limewashed in an ochre to complement the slate roofs.
