An employment law pioneer since just after the financial ‘big bang’ of 1986, Charles Ferguson made his name as the doyen of City litigation after representing a client against Nomura. ‘We seemed to be the only
people at that time who were prepared to sue banks,’ he has told Spear’s. The solicitor enjoys quite a following among City traders and top brass. Spring Law is dedicated to acting as a trusted adviser to HNWs. ‘Employment law chose me,’ says Ferguson, who recalls a distress call from a friend in London when he was a commercial shipping litigator in Hong Kong — at the start of the financial crisis. He soon found himself advising on an array of employment disputes and was recognised for setting up guidelines for discretionary bonuses.
