Charlie Morris is the chief investment officer at Newscape Capital Group, an investment boutique based on Jermyn Street in London. ‘My specialisms are asset allocation with stock selection, but I have also been a long term commentator on gold and alternative assets, and over the last few years I have added my fascination with digital assets including blockchain and cryptocurrencies to this,’ he explains to Spear’s. Newscape is divided across three different areas: adviser services, fund management and specialist markets. Their clients are as diversified as their business streams, servicing ‘financial intermediaries, pension funds, professional families, trusts and fiduciaries, institutions and sovereign wealth funds.’ Before he came to Newscape, Morris spent 17 years at HSBC Global Asset Management as the Head of Absolute Return, managing a multi-asset fund range exceeding $3bn. Prior to fund management he served as an officer in the Grenadier Guards. ‘I look back to my time in the Army and my eclectic, peripatetic younger life as the basis for my passion for politics and economics,’ he says. ‘I find markets utterly absorbing and gratifyingly challenging’. He says that the fund management team at Newscape have the freedom to invest their clients’ assets in a way that their collective experience has taught them.
