Daniel Katz started dealing in works of art almost half a century ago and shows no signs of slowing down. On the contrary, his most recent move in 2014 was to upgrade to a six-storey, 6,000 square foot Edwardian townhouse in Mayfair, twice the size of his previous gallery. Art works span the breadth of history, with everything from Egyptian antiquities and Old Master paintings to European sculpture and 20th Century British art. The common focus is on handling ‘only the best’, which Katz achieves thanks to his famously discerning eye. Katz has made headlines for his historic purchases: in 2013, he bought an Egyptian sculpture of a falcon from the 4th century BC. Offered at an estimate of £100,000, Katz bought it for £1.1 million.
