‘Our clients are broadly either the individuals behind businesses, or individuals with complex affairs, onshore and international,’ says Gary Heynes, national head of RSM’s private client services. Heynes tends to act for UHNWs and their families, meeting their continual need for tax-efficient succession planning. ‘RSM has a very personal, relationship-led approach. We are called in to answer questions to do with tax and law, but often extend to broader questions about family affairs,’ he explains. Much of his team’s recent work has concerned reorganising non-domiciled individuals’ finances, to take into account draft legislation. ‘We are still seeing a large number of individuals moving to the UK — there has not been much of a slowdown,’ Heynes says.
