Geraldine Apponyi is committed to the design of holistic spaces. That means sourcing and supplying her own furniture, fixtures and fittings, and lighting — an aspect she considers ‘one of the best parts’ of her job.She also seeks to ‘understand how [the] client lives’ in order to create a home that ‘even in just small ways, makes their life a little more practical and a little more beautiful’. She draws from a wide influence in the European arts, and began her creative career as an assistant in set and costume design at London’s Almeida theatre. Her start in interior design was with a major New York hotel: ‘a baptism of fire’. She describes her style as ‘classic contemporary’, and always strives for ‘exquisite detailing’.
