Ilse Crawford is the founder of Studioilse, a project undertaken with a view to ‘creating environments where humans feel comfortable, and public spaces that make people feel at home’. The commercial side of the practice has undertaken the First Class Airline Lounge in Hong Kong and Duddell’s Arts Club, also in the city. On the private side, Crawford’s homes are sleek and imaginative. In 2009, she transformed Dinder House in Somerset from a Regency period affair into a modern family home, creating ‘a home to be lived in, not tiptoed round’. In 2014, Crawford refurbished a 1930s yacht into a family home. She is also a founder of the department of Man and Wellbeing at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
