Working independently, Kirsty Acton’s workload is variable and exciting. ‘My clients require private equity investment opportunities, or are looking for financing, be it for funds or business,’ she says. A particular advantage is that ‘I can work for the best upcoming teams and businesses and cherry pick who I work with’. She explains: ‘Growth equity within a balanced portfolio of companies can still act as preservation capital, but as a rule of thumb, private equity is long term, higher risk, with greater reward’. A highlight has been working with a big data technology business with its HQ in London, which is in the process of securing £7 million growth equity and is now ready to compete in the US.
