Nick Pheasey has been advising HNW and UHNW clients as a partner at KPMG’s Manchester office since 2013. Over the past year, he and his team undertook noticeable merger and acquisition work. ‘We’ve done a lot of work for shareholders of large, privately owned businesses, in connection with selling them to private equity firms or other buyers’. Many clients have been looking to leave the UK due to Brexit uncertainty. He adds that tax planning is very important if clients are staying in the UK, for structuring investments, succession planning and passing value on to other family members. ‘Our clients have increasingly £100 million plus businesses. It’s very important for clients to plan ahead if they intend to stay in the UK with that extent of wealth.’
