Phil Hall’s Soho outfit has seen ten per cent growth in another busy year. The former News of the World editor is the go-to man for high-profile clients with a record to set straight. A notable example has been Sir Cliff Richard’s recent saga: ‘A difficult challenge.’ While most of his business remains awareness-building, there is increasing need for that sort of protection: ‘Some [corporate clients] have been the subject of investigations by reporters, often completely erroneously… [by] somebody out there trying to poison the well.’ He laments ‘Leveson and other inquiries have left parts of the media battered,’ but says the papers are still ‘like a dog with a bone when they’ve got the right subject’.
