Established in 1856, Stanley Gibbons is the world’s longest established rare stamp merchant. It has since moved into premium collectibles, including rare coins and rare books, to become a giant in the collectables’ world. ‘What we don’t know about coins and stamps, you couldn’t write on the back of one,’ says investments department MD Keith Heddle, who previously worked with major blue chips from Singapore Airlines to Foster’s Brewing Group. Investing in collectibles is a no-brainer, says Heddle — you’re buying into something that has a history and a heritage, and such a strong record of growth and solid performance that you are likely to get a very strong return, and have something that gives you a certain amount of security.
