Suzanne Willis joined as a partner of Westleton Drake in 2014 to expand the HNW private client focus of the international tax practice. It was an easy transition, for her having known the partners for many years, and she has enjoyed being integral in the sustainable growth of the practice while maintaining the core principles of timely and practical advice, excellence in client service, and transparency and fairness in fees. The trusted adviser who heads the trust and family wealth group, focuses on private clients and families, especially in relation to trust and estate tax issues. She has been practising US and UK tax since 1997 and spent 15 years at another London firm before establishing her own US and UK tax advisory firm. It has been a busy year with the recruitment of other senior advisers to the team ‘to ensure we continue to provide the best advice to our clients, especially those US families significantly impacted by the changes to the UK non-dom regime,’ says Willis. A UK chartered tax adviser, she is enrolled to practice in front of the Internal Revenue Service, and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She is an active conference speaker, being a specialist in US tax issues, especially in trusts matters. The private client firm is an ‘ambitious and innovative tax practice’. Willis and her team lead a ‘practice focused on clearly articulated practical solutions, technical expertise and client service’.
