Something of a ground den among the glass pines of the City, the three story Queen Anne-style 1952 town house that is home to the Walbrook, is an institution: classically understated in both form and content. A suitably well-stocked bar and the ornate Georgian-style dining rooms provide City workers with a place to unwind and to entertain and brief clients over unrushed lunches. Members are typically City uniform, directors or c-level, and can enjoy ‘City Breakfasts’ at which heads of state, captains of industry and cultural icons speak in confidence. Additionally there are shooting parties and wine tastings to be enjoyed. It’s small wonder bankers, investors, philanthropists, and the odd journalist find a happy forum at the Walbrook.
