‘After a slow summer, activity has picked up’, says Thomas Moran, who was with Speechly Bircham for ten years before its merger with Charles Russell. Moran advises a ‘healthy mix’ of clients, specialising in the London property market. It’s been an interesting year with ‘the market slowly adjusting to the major increases in stamp duty’, and a ‘huge surge of “de-enveloping work” up to the calling of the 2017 general election’. He is philosophical about Brexit: though ‘a couple of purchases fell through’, he is positive about the long term. His high-end transactions include the purchase of three houses in the same prestigious street for £44 million, and of ‘the only Grand Tier box in the Royal Albert Hall to come to the market in a decade’.
