Former Royal Air Force pilot Adam Twidell switched to flying private jets after leaving the military. He joined NetJets and later teamed up with London City Airport, winning the contract to develop RAF Northolt into what is now one of the UK’s most exclusive private jet hubs. Having spotted the opportunity to use technology to transform the fragmented marketplace, he co-founded PrivateFly in 2008 with his wife, Carol Cork, and is today chief executive. PrivateFly opened a new US office in Miami this summer as it seeks to grow in the world’s largest market for private aviation, having already set up shop in New York and Los Angeles. US business aviation customers represent a third of the company’s flight sales.
