A wellconnected family law veteran, Longrigg joined Charles Russell in 1985 as an articled clerk. Now that he’s become the jet-setting president of the prestigious International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers — a role he clearly relishes — Longrigg specialises in multi-jurisdictional cases, often involving Europe, the US, Hong Kong and Australia. Of course, the fact that he speaks three languages helps.
‘I don’t think I could have predicted how family law has changed during the past 30 years — which is pretty much how long I’ve been doing it,’ he says, oozing old-school charm. ‘There’s so much more international work than we had originally,’ he says. ‘London has a different place in the world, and that makes a big difference to the work we do. It’s also much more intellectually challenging than we could have been predicted.’
