An expert in regulatory landscapes, it’s all about the real thing for Ward. He owns a 700-acre plot in Kent, which he farms and gardens in his spare time. ‘You feel that you learn things yourself, and that you’re also able to pass on the benefits of your experience to your clients,’ he maintains.
He advises on a wide range of residential, rural and commercial property matters for HNW, institutional and commercial clients. ‘While the estates world may seem to be a bit of a backwater compared to most of what you read in the Financial Times, actually it’s fundamentally important,’ he said. ‘You’ve got land, you’ve got politics — not just of food, but the environment and planning, of ownership, of housing and of tax — all those things meet. It’s a tremendously exciting world to be in.’
