Last year was a strong one for Mapelli Mozzi, with 40 acquisitions and 68 units under construction. Growth has given him the confidence and mandate to look outside the Hyde Park epicentre, acquiring and developing homes in places such as Clapham, Battersea, Westminster and Richmond, projects that have included a former brewery and a Victorian bakery. He cites a home on the south side of Albert Bridge, with three-metre ceilings and porter service: ‘That stuff had just never existed there before. If the quality is there, educated buyers are the first who are prepared to move there and make it cool.’ Another project he wants to bring to fruition is a home for cricket in Rwanda via the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation, which he chairs.
