The head of Hamptons International’s residential sales department has had an interesting year: London coming ‘off the boil’ has meant Goldberg seeing a 70 per cent uplift in sales outside the capital. ‘That gap just got too wide,’ he explains. That means it’s time for a price correction, as clients snap up commuter pads in traditional Home Counties dormitories as well as in new pastures. ‘Crossrail has really helped in creating some hot spots in places like Maidenhead,’ he says. The value of Hamptons’ sales last year was £4.5 billion, with Goldberg’s averaging just over £1 million. But, what gives him a kick, he says, is ‘more about winning a great instruction’.
