A winner of the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s medal, Barnett joined Burges Salmon twenty years ago. In 2003 he moved to the private client wealth structuring division, specialising in advising HNWs as well as high-profile banks and financial institutions. A CIOT council member, he’s exposed to the cogs of the profession and, since 2013, has had the ear of policymakers as a member of the GAAR advisory committee. Since 2008 he’s been involved at policy-level in the domicile debate. That’s fortunate for his clients, since many are non-doms, or have substantial holdings outside of the UK.
