From knighthood to the RIBA gold medal, Chipperfield has swept the floor of architectural accolades. He runs a global architectural practice and the bricks and mortar of his designs spread over four continents. Since he established his practice in 1985, he has designed public and private buildings, and is currently transforming the US embassy on Grosvenor square into a luxury hotel.
While Chipperfield is renowned for his public buildings, he also designs homes around the UK for HNW private clients. Having worked for Modernist behemoths Richard Rogers and Norman Foster, Chipperfield has taken on the mantle, and yet his style is slightly different. His buildings are stark but not startling and while they are striking, they are also serene.
