Wine Lister, the brainchild of former investment banker Ella Lister, is a new online tool, which evaluates the fine-wine market. It’s the first platform to combine qualitative and quantitative data using ‘bespoke algorithms to distil them into a single score’.
Since Wine Lister launched in May 2016, Lister says feedback has been ‘amazing’ with praise from every corner of the industry, from serious collectors to merchants and producers. ‘Everyone’s really excited to have a new tool, which gets around the problem of lots of disparate sources of information and puts them in one place,’ she says.
Although her heart is with wines from France and Italy, Lister jokes she is ‘coming round to the idea that New World wines can be incredibly good’, especially the Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays coming out of California.
