Harvey Soning has experience that is matched by very few in the real estate world, having lived and breathed the industry for over 58 years. Property was a popular career choice for youth post-war as property was slowly ‘re-emerging after the austerity times’, 15 years after the war. ‘Commercial and residential property, since the last war, has beaten all indices,’ he says. ‘The only thing it hasn’t beaten is Ferraris.’ Having seen the industry recover from several crises in the past, Soning believes Brexit is unlikely to be nearly as disastrous. With the continuing economic uncertainty, property is likely to become an even safer haven. What has enabled his firm to weather the rapidly changing industry? ‘The personal touch,’ he maintains.
