Australian-born Peter Mikic worked for 15 years in fashion, moving to interiors after a private upholstery yacht job in 2006. There’s a fashion-conscious edge to his deluxe interior designs, which evoke the fun and sass of the catwalk. His online shop includes the weird and wonderful, from pebble tables to half moon cabinets. His influences include Kenwood House, the Wallace Collection and Sir John Soane’s Museum: not that Mikic is particularly known for nodding to classical influence. His designs — whether in Islington, at the Savoy or on one of those yachts — are vibrant and modern, with perhaps just a hint of 1970s chic and a rich interplay of ideas. A designer to go for if you want bold, cheering and original work.
