Viki Lander got the nickname ‘Colour Rebel’ from Grand Designs magazine: a telling description of the founder of Ensoul’s designs. Her refurbishment of a sevenfloor house in Highgate made each room appear to be an individual artwork in itself. A Wandsworth house has bold, green living room sofas to match the lush lawns beyond. Lander also has a penchant for high tech, under-garden basements and roof lights. She has backup in the shape of husband Mike Lander’s management skills and Philip Rogerson’s architectural lead. They take a highly client-centric approach: ‘A lot of people worry that interior designers will force their designs on them; we place our clients at the heart of our solutions,’ she says.
