Geraldine Apponyi is committed to the design of holistic spaces and is determined to continue the legacy of her mother, the late Monika Apponyi. That means sourcing and supplying her own furniture, fixtures and fittings, and lighting – an aspect she considers ‘one of the best parts’ of her job. She also seeks to ‘understand how [the] client lives’ in order to create a home that ‘even in just small ways, makes their life a little more practical and a little more beautiful’. She draws from a wide influence in the European arts, and began her creative career as an assistant in set and costume design at London’s Almeida theatre. Her start in interior design was with a major New York hotel: ‘A baptism of fire’.
