Arizona-born Jim Bouley has been in wealth management since 1981, and is something of an industry sage. When Spear’s spoke to him in 2016, his advice was ‘never get complacent. Don’t underestimate the element of surprise, whether that’s in markets, events or politics.’ His comment proved portentous, and his unflappable attitude served him well in the upheaval of the EU referendum, the US election and a wave of populism. Bouley says his clients’ portfolios have been fortified by Julius Baer’s ‘global investment outlook’, preventing any financial ripples. Bouley is bullish about London’s future. ‘London attracts the type of client that I like to work with, and a lot of those clients are attracted to London,’ he says.
