Ward started in the City 15 years ago and has worked for banks, wealth managers and broking houses in various securities trading roles. With a degree of cautious optimism when it comes to crypto, Ward is prepared to recommend an ETF linked to blockchain companies to his clients. He warned: ‘When you’re buying a cryptocurrency you’re effectively buying a very complex algorithm and a peer-to-peer network. It’s a digital asset. It’s not backed by anything.’ An audience member chirped: ‘Just like the pound.’
