Australian-born Peter Mikic worked for 16 years in fashion, moving to interiors after a private upholstery yacht job in 2006. There’s a fashion-conscious edge to his deluxe interior designs, evoking the fun and sass of the catwalk. His online shop includes the weird and wonderful, from pebble tables to half-moon cabinets. His influences include Kenwood House, the Wallace Collection and Sir John Soane’s Museum: not that Mikic is particularly known for classical nods. His designs – whether in Islington, at the Savoy or on one of those yachts – are vibrant and modern, with perhaps just a hint of 1970s chic and a rich interplay of ideas. Mikic is a must if you want bold, cheering and original work.
