Specialist tax and trust lawyer Paul Davidoff ‘helps people organise and plan their estate so that it goes to the right people, at the right time and in the right way – ideally in a tax-efficient manner.
It sounds simple, but it isn’t, and on any given day Davidoff can be found clarifying the intricacies of UK tax law, or finding a way to provide equality to the next generation through succession planning, or explaining complex legal concepts in plain English, to name a few of his areas of expertise.
New Quadrant Partners, founded in 2010, is one of the few boutique private client firms in London. Davidoff joined the firm last year, and has been busy settling in and building his offshore practice. He is passionate about what the firm’s boutique model can offer clients. ‘All of us – at all levels, and in whatever role – have the same focus and understand the needs that private clients have,’ he says.
Davidoff finds that, more than anything, wealthier clients want an advisor, not just a lawyer. ‘As my practice has developed and expanded, this has become ever more the case, and in many cases my role is three-pronged: lawyer, problem-solver, counsellor.’
As a result, the firm strives to provide a more rounded family office-style service, including an experienced trust administration team, which allows it to co-ordinate advice and assistance from other professionals, who may spread across multiple jurisdictions.
