London’s Notting Hill is home to a rather novel and decidedly luxurious exercise environment: private members gym The Clock, formerly The Library.

Founded by Zana Morris and Karen Welman in 2013, the concept is rooted in the idea of ‘turning back the clock’ to give people time. ‘Only four people will ever be working out at once whilst being instructed by a personal trainer,’ the gym says, ‘and every workout is just 15 minutes long.’ The ‘short burst high intensity’ sessions are combined with ‘individually tailored, low glycemic nutrition plans designed to balance the body’s insulin levels’. Members can choose to unwind in the reading room, or join a yoga, barre or boxing class. Sister gyms are in Marylebone and Barnes.
