Mustique was a mosquitoinfected rock lacking roads, jetties or running water when it was purchased by Lord Glenconner, Colin Tenant in 1958. It’s now one of the most exclusive private islands in the world: Tennant gave Princess Margaret a plot of land in 1960 as a wedding present, and the likes of Mick Jagger and David Bowie followed. Within eight years, the Mustique Company was formed, developing the island into today’s private hideaway. Villas are available to suit all tastes, while guests are also able to stay in one of the island’s hotels. The flagship is the Cotton House, a clubhouse for the rock stars, artists, socialites and private HNWs, who regard the island as a home-away-from-home.
